What a delight this book is! There are so many unique pictures of Jeff Gordon and stories as told by the founders of his biggest fan club. What a tribute to Jeff himself! If you are a Jeff Gordon Fan, this is a "must have" book.

Molly Harris has written a book with an inside look at NASCAR racing. It's about the champion auto racer's fan club operated for 10 years by Molly and her late husband Russ, and it's filled with stories about Jeff Gordon's fans who documented their admiration with thousands and thousands of letters. Those letters included invitations to weddings, birthday parties and family reunions, and requests for autographs and tickets to races. Gifts from fans included lucky coins, photos of themselves, poems, and songs. There are many color photos of super stars of the racing world, the pits, victory circles and The Jeff Gordon Museum. The book is about fans and for fans, and lots of fun to read.

Lucky to survive their first sail.

This is a true story of buying a yacht and a shakedown sail and delivery firstly in a storm (although 25 knots of wind and 6 foot seas are not unusual and is normal sailing conditions in Western Australia) in the Gulf of Mexico. I assume Annie has or will write further books of her adventures but please use words at least once that say SAFETY HARNESS. I was horrified with the lack of use of this basic of all sailing safety measures.

Just like I like my french fries "Salty"

I finished reading Salt of a Sailor last night and it made me laugh out loud, got some funny looks from my wife. I own a sailboat and can relate to everything that happens in the book. I suppose it helps one's feeling when you find that we all make similar mistakes, learn from them and move on.

Many of us dream of that great adventure that we are going to undertake one day, this is a story of someone who has stopped the Walter Mitty dreams and got on board. If you like the smell of salt air and the limitless miles of open water buy this book it will take you on an adventure that many of us wish for but few do.

Every Chapter a Gem, the Last One is Magnifico!

Best story about the delivery home after purchase ever told. The author has a great way with words so some of the smallest details are told with remarkable clarity. Maybe it would be fun to sail on down from the New England area and try out the Gulf of Freaking Mexico.

Some reviewers have noted the side stories of her early life as being distracting. Cruising is about resilience. Annie is resilient and she has the stories to prove it. The "great" part of the book is the wonder she experiences as a sailor out on a cruise. Nothing had prepared her for that. Pretty remarkable.

Would recommend

Really good catfishing book. Could be a little more detailed and have more substantial and more advanced information like seasonal movements and when, where, and why the fish are where they are in a lake in different seasons but seems to stay fairly basic. Would have loved to learn more about where to look at different times of the year. I would recommend this book to a friend but found the infisherman books on catfishing a bit more informative. Really great book overall and worth having.

Do NOT buy both of the books I have listed below here! They are so close to the same books with the same information, it isn't even funny.

I don't know how to rate this book, so I put 3 stars, because I'm sure not happy to be paying 'double the price' for the same book. The book is FINE, with good information, but you only need one of them!

A Bill Miller book in the Best Tradition

Yet another entry from Mr. Ocean Liner himself. Chances are if your reading this you have bought a Bill Miller book before and know pretty much what they are like. Lots of great pictures and entertaining text, but GENERALLY not a huge amount of new information. Lots of nice interviews with former passengers and crew sharing their stories. A very good assortment of color photos covering Cunards postwar fleet. A worthy addition to your ocean liner collection.

Great info and photos

an entertaining read. great for people that are new to the sport. I've been riding for years, so I have mastered many, but not all, of the moves.. but there's always room to improve too..
I have some buddies with kids and a nephew that I think this would be great for.. Perhaps not the best book for you if you can already rock black diamonds at Whistler. but, there's still great info in there to learn.. (it covers 360's and back flips too.. have you got those down yet?? No? me either..)

a fun / light read. great for people getting into mountain biking and younger riders.

Mostly Fluff....

I own a few "how to" MTB books and I bought this book thinking "new book, new insights" and also input from some of todays finest riders.
Well, this one is more of a coffee table MTBing book. The contents were fairly vage and the insight/comments from the Pros, were 90% common sense.

IMO, Buy "the Bible" from Brian Lopez. This is a great book AND costs alot less!!

Very high quality pictures, a good coffe table book, lots of great tips. I like the book, but I don't think it's intended for the beginner bike rider. If you want to learn skills there are better books that are better organized.

Easy to read, informative book on motorcycle riding. This is definitely a must read for anyone who is looking to ride their motorcycle safely. This book has definitely helped me think about riding differently than I used to, in a much safer and confident way. About the Author
Philip Selznick is professor emeritus of law and sociology, School of Law, University of California at Berkeley. He is the author of numerous books, including Law, Society, and Industrial Justice (with Philippe Nonet and Howard M. Vollmer), and The Moral Commonwealth: Social Theory and the Promise of Community.

Jonathan Simon is a developer and interaction designer who loves to make great apps for people to use--and loves to help other people make them, too. He's worked on a dizzying array of platforms and customers, from trading systems built in Java/Swing for JPMorganChase and Merrill Lynch, to collaborative websites built in Ruby on Rails, and now, mobile. Jonathan is a longtime veteran of the mobile space, developing J2ME mobile apps all the way back when the Motorola RAZR was the phone everyone had to have. Enduring classic in sociology.

This book is a high-quality electronic version that is a welcome addition to e-books. Well worth reading or re-reading this important study.

This book was a HUGE letdown.

This book was a HUGE disappointment. Written by a college professor who went way off into outer space defining human reactions to other reactions..................constantly. Totally philosophical with hardly any "normal" month to month and year to year history on how and why the TVA did what they did all over the area they developed............in "normal" language. The author was barely understandable, way too cerebral, at least for me.
Now, when all is said and done, it's my fault for buying this book. I totally misunderstood it's content. Just terrible.
