This full-colored illustration-rich book covers things which you'll need to take note before you begin, the necessary basic preparation work to perform, creating layout shapes prior to drafting the PCB artwork, knowing what is a good schematic diagram and the right strategies to use for the type of PCBs (analog, digital, mixed-signals). You will also learn advanced topics such as layering, shape data and shapesheet, generating reports for bill of materials, and even deciphering programmable logic devices!

About the Author
NG KENG TIONG has worked as a Principal Engineer at Singapore Technologies (ST) Electronics Limited, a subsidiary of ST Engineering. Upon graduation from the Singapore Polytechnics, he signed up with the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) as an aircraft technician and worked in the E-2C Hawkeye repair bay, servicing the aircraft's avionics using automated test systems (CAT-IIID and RADCOM) and other in-house test equipment. Upon invitation, he left the RSAF after his first contract and joined his present company, doing test program development and PCB diagnostics using Schlumberger S700 series testers. Since then, he has worked on other test platforms such as the Teradyne Spectrum™ 8800 series, the Westest-DATS/2000 test station, and some special-to-type-equipment (STTE) of similar nature. He also has experience in logic simulation using HHB Systems CADAT™ software and the CATS- 10000™ hardware modeler, as well as Teradyne's LASAR™ simulator. He has worked with engineers from companies such as Elbit and Thales, and recently completed two test benches for testing the transmitter and servo amplifier control of a naval sonar system. In the course of his work, he encountered many printed circuit boards and electronic modules without schematic diagrams or documentation. That started him on the journey of doing PCB reverse engineering, in part or total, to perform the necessary troubleshooting for repair. Over time, he has refined the skill into an art for which this book is all about.

Worth every cent and more ! A most excellent book

I purchased this book after having discussed it with the author on the EEVBlog web forum. I have been reverse engineering complex printed circuit boards for many years, and enjoy the challenge. The author of this book has similar experience and it shows in his excellent coverage of the topic. He has correctly identified the key aspects of such a task and the need for the methodical & disciplined approach in order to achieve success. This book would suit anyone who has an interest in the reverse engineering of PCB's, and even those with previous experience will likely learn from this book. I certainly did ! There is no requirement for complex or expensive tools beyond the basics normally found on an electronics workbench, but MS Visio is recommended for the documentation. Visio is not essential to success however, and should not put buyers off of this book. I know of no other book that covers this topic so well for those starting out on PCB reverse engineering. The author writes in an easy to read fashion and offers purchasers of his book free downloads of additional useful material via his web site. The quality of materials used in the production of this book are excellent and it should have a long life in the lab. All who have seen my copy of the book have been very impressed with it. Highly recommended to those embarking on PCB reverse engineering, both beginners and the experienced.

Reverse engineering PCB's is to electronic circuit boards what hacking is to computer software...something people do, but no one admits to doing it, LOL.
Mr Ng not only does it, but he lays out a very clear and systematic approach to the entire process. I am self-taught in this field, and it was a real joy to find that someone had actually written an entire book on the subject. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the topic.

I’ve been interesting in hiking lately and this book provides an excellent starting point for learning more about the sport. I realized there were many details one needs to take care of before embarking on an edventure and this book explains what is needed nicely. Glad I found this one, highly recommended.

Fikret Berkes is Distinguished Professor and Tier 1 Canada Research Chair at the Natural Resources Institute, University of Manitoba, Canada. Sally Huss writes delightful and entertaining children stories. But more importantly, they all are filled with essential life lessons parents want to instill in their children. "Kevin's Birthday Turtle" is another case in point. Sally bring the magical world of the sea and all its creatures to life in this story of a young boy and his sea turtle. As the boy learns, all creatures must be treated with care and compassion. Another important message for children taught in a perfectly charming way!

Good Story, Good Message

This book will set a child’s imagination going by following the little hero of this story as he travels beneath the sea. But it will also plant the seed of compassion for another, in this case, his turtle. I think this is a wonderful story that demonstrates how important a promise is. The idea here can be applied to any child’s caring of his own pet or even of himself. The many illustrations are charming, colorful, and move along beautifully with the rhythm of the story. Highly recommended.

This is just the cutest story. A perfect under the sea adventure with a wonderful moral to the story. The illustrations are brilliant and the story is very well told. In this fun story your children will learn that pets need care, love and appreciation while your children are being thoroughly entertained as they're learning. Nice. Both my 2 yr. old and my 6 year old loved it! Absolutely recommended!

Missing pages in the Kindle version.

Good book on the Total Immersion method. But to be honest, it's better to get the training kit which includes this book, a workbook, reference cards and training videos.

This Kindle version also lacks page 129 & 130, which gives key pointers in swimming faster. It's not on the Kindle version, but it is on the pdf version available with the training kit.

mainly because the exercise was good for you

This book is not only for those who have tried swimming freestyle and quickly giving up, getting frustrated with just how difficult it seems to be, but also for those who have been swimming for many years, mainly because they thought that the exercise was good for them, but in reality the task was quite joyless. This book explains to you why and shows you how (with many great pictures), how you really don't need to fight your way through the water using your arms and legs, but to easily slice through the water using your entire body. Hard to believe, but it's true. it's based on many years of scientific observation and practice by master coach Terry Laughlin, and many others who practice this technique. I had used the previous version of the book/DVD and this is new version, is just not an upgrade, but has been completely re-written to bring it up to date. Highly recommended for those who want to enjoy swimming, from the inside out, AND go faster

This is an excellent reference and guide

This is an excellent reference and guide. After reading Terry Laughlin's books, I am a much better swimmer now than when I was in high school. I only wish I had this book back than. I am outswimming triathletes who are half my age and sometimes I can even overtake them using breaststroke (my natural stroke). All because I finally learned how to reduce drag and streamline.

A total waste of time. I've read text books with more in depth and informative CHAPTERS in them. The info in it is vague at best. Only a good text for those with no experience. I realize it's a beginners guide, but the text doesnt deserve to be a book on its own

Delightful, charming and informative story for children and adults

I just peeked inside this little book and had a taste of what's to come. I am already charmed by the illustrations and Monte's voice and that of handsome Bello. Having visited Pisa, I can vouch for the accuracy of all details. What a wonderful way of promoting travels with a pet and at the same time bring a little history to young children through the eyes of a canine. I can't wait to own a copy of this delightful book.

A Charming Book for Children (and Grown-ups) who Like Dogs and Enjoy Travel

Montecristo is a little long haired chihuahua who travels with his humans in real life. In this book, they visit Pisa in Italy. This is a children's book, but there is an engaging story and I even learned a few facts about the leaning tower that I had not known before. I think little people will relate to seeing the world through Montecristo's eyes---eight inches off the ground. The story text is very well represented by Allison MacAlister's skillful illustrations such that even children too young to read will enjoy looking at this book on their own. This is a great book for children who love animals and for parents who have or are planning to introduce their children to the world of travel.

PreS-K–This deceptively simple and creative book is loaded with fun. Two adorable mice create a teeter-totter using a stick balanced on a rock. A salamander joins one side, creating an imbalance, but then another one of equal weight joins the other mouse, and all is in order–until it happens again with a frog and a bird. Readers might be fooled into thinking that this is just a concept book, but Walsh gives them so much more, including a twist in the ending. Observant children will want to converse about animal and color identification, as well as why the actions and reactions of the animals are creating balances/imbalances on the teeter-totter. The delightful illustrations were done using cut-paper collage and then splattered with acrylic paints. A rock at the middle of the teeter-totter is cleverly placed in the gutter, creating eye-catching spreads with lots of white space and spare text. The concept of balance is gently introduced by Walsh’s collage mice, reminiscent of Leo Lionni’s, who build and play on a teeter-totter made out of a stick and a rock. The game attracts more and more animals, the teeter-totter seesawing up and down with each new arrival, until it collapses beneath the weight. Small in format like her earlier Mouse Paint (1985) and Mouse Count (1991), this is just the right size for small hands and for sharing one-on-one and also offers an opportunity to talk about the different elements of the story, including cooperation, creativity, and sharing as well as basic physics and math. The clean layout—featuring a white background; large, black typeface; and colorful animals—allows young readers to focus on what’s happening, and the neat story ends satisfyingly where it began, with just two mice left, free to play with each other—and their stick and rock—once again. provokes deep thought

My 2-year-old grandtwins have been deeply stimulated by this book to think about the related concepts of balance and equilibrium which surfaces in many ways throughout their day. After reading the book, I balance it on the back of one of their little chairs and then they try (and succeed) in balancing it there themselves. They have intuitively understood where the balance point is. We talk about what toys (etc.) we can put on either side of the book to keep it in balance or to knock it off balance. They are able to predict what will happen when something is placed on one side or the other. They know that if we put a Really Heavy Thing on one side, the light things on the other side will "fly up in the air!" (which explodes them in giggles every time). They also relate the book to their own balancing on one foot, to being out of balance when they spin around and get dizzy, to things they see in nature. It is astounding how much they have taken away from this simple book. Highly recommended -- I just retired from teaching graduate school but I would have used it in my classes to introduce the concept of equilibrium if I were still teaching.

We love reading this book with our 2-year-old son

We love reading this book with our 2-year-old son. Our copy has the two mice, but also a frog on the cover. He really connects with the frogs in the story, so he calls it the frog book.

The artwork is simple, but effective. I am going to check out other books by Walsh at our local public library.

Great Book about Mass

Great book. I used it to introduce mass/weight to 3 and 4 year old students. Very simple book that gets the point across. My one year old son enjoys the book as well. I would definitely recommend this book for young children.
