The most information filled book iv'e seen on the subject

This book tells just about everything there is to know on beach hunting, surf hunting, ocean hunting, etc. It gives tips and information on how it should be done and were to look. I have been treasure hunting ever since I read this book. I reccomend this book to anybody who wants to get into treasure hunting or lust wants to learn more on the subject.

Wind Logging and Other Aerial Adventures

This is really quite a good book as a first effort, apparently written between flights while fogged in or broken down, and it reflects the very mercuric nature of a pilot's career. Flying a helicopter requires that the pilot's every limb be in constant motion, and his every sense must be on 'full alert.'

Apart from that it sounds like a dream job - but in this book 'Captain Methane' brings out the challenges, tedium and terror of flying heavy loads in and out of the world's most extreme terrain. As a 'maturing' ex-Army pilot, the author has filled the book with short stories about not only the logging business but also firefighting, surveying, salvage, construction, and the Vietnam war. The challenges of keeping helicopters flying are vividly described in a variety of close calls and near-catastrophic failures. Topping it off is the wild cast of characters who love this life and won't, or can't, do anything else.

The variety of these 30-odd autobiographical stories recaps the colorful and amazing career of an old-time barnstormer of a chopper pilot, and they are enhanced by the author's photos and sketches. Overall it's a great read, and these stories hint of many more to come.

Funny!

Dorcey Wingo, AKA, 'Captain Methane' was logging with a 'B' Model Huey long before that series on The History Channel came out.
This book is a collection of stories, most of them pretty funny, all of them entertaining, of Mr. Wingo's days as a heli-logging pilot.
He tells the story of how he got the name 'Captain Methane' in one chapter.
There are some serious stories in here, but I found most of them to be hilarious.
Thanks Dorcey, for some insight into the world of heli-logging.
I really enjoyed this book.

This is another taste of "the maverick" Dorcey Wingo. An adrenalin junky? Oh yeah! An incredible pilot with wicked skills? You bet!! This man tells stories that are so amazing you keep scratching your head and saying..."Whaaat"? I was amazed he not only pulled off these crazy feats but that he lived to tell about it. You will become totally absorbed in his "story-telling" ability and his cryptic style of describing the characters who helped him live it. A totally awesome read.

About the Author
Justin Goldman is the founder of The Goalie Guild, a consulting organization dedicated to the growth and evolution of the goaltending position. Since 2009, he has been at the forefront of pro goalie research and development through a variety of roles, including most recently as a pro scout and mentor for USA Hockey's National Team Development Program (NTDP).

Beyond scouting for USA Hockey, Goldman wrote articles on a weekly basis for NHL.com for more than four years through his "In the Cage" column. He has also appeared on hundreds of different radio shows throughout North America in order to provide insights on NHL goalies and the goaltending position.

Goldman is also the co-author of the popular hockey book, "The Power Within: Discovering the Path to Elite Goaltending" alongside Mike Valley, the goalie coach for the Dallas Stars.

With over 20,000 followers on Twitter and hundreds of pro, collegiate, and junior clients, Goldman brings his unique research and creative observations to the hockey community on a daily basis. Born and raised on a horse ranch in Texas, Goldman's non-traditional hockey background transformed him into a life-long student of the position. An amazing read!

Truly a must read for all goalie coaches and parents of goalies. Justin does an amazing job of relaying his international experiences with various goalie yoda's and some of the stories he tells seem like they have to be fiction!

As a parent of a young goalie I knew that the system in the U.S. is unstructured, but I didn't know just how unstructured it is compared to Finland and Sweden.

I just finished it and I think I'm gone to read it again sooner than later.

Essentially it's a reworked version of The Never-Ending Story but in a different setting. Parental warning: lots of profanity

I received this book free for review from the author in exchange for an honest review. Despite the privilege of receiving a free book, I’m absolutely candid about it below because I believe authors and readers will benefit most from honest reviews rather than vacuous 5-star reviews.

The nutshell view on this book is that it lies closely along the lines of the movie “The Never-ending story” from a few decades back. It’s fairly standard youth escapism in which the protagonist has some exceptional ability that means only they can save some faraway world from the oncoming devastation caused by the unbelief of the rest of the world. That’s the general idea and telling you any more would constitute a spoiler so I’ll just leave it at that.

I believe this to be primarily YA literature so I judge it by my standard three rules for books intended for children. Firstly, I ask myself if there’s any reason I wouldn’t want my children to read this book. I have absolutely no tolerance for drug or sexual references and this book is clean in that regard. There is some mild violence but nothing that’s going to make the average child concerned. Language, however, could be a major problem. There is a LOT of profanity and some of it is used in somewhat abusive situations. There are several dam*s, a couple shi*s, one godda&m and dozens of a$$ because one of the villains name is, I kid you not, A$s so his name is used as a running joke in every puerile manner possible from dumba$s to half-a$s to every other thing you can imagine. So on these grounds if you don’t want your child exposed to profanity, there’s your warning.

The second question I ask myself is whether I would want my child to read this book for some positive reason. Usually this involves some good life lesson that children can benefit from. In this case, the lessons, if there are any, are pretty week. The crux of the whole thing revolves around belief in a mysterious Other world which… I’m not terribly concerned if my children believe in myths or not. There is a weak thread of sticking with your friends and building teamwork but it’s not a terribly central theme. So the book is rather weak in this regard.

The last question is whether the reader will enjoy it. In this case I’d say it’s a strong yes. For all the book lacks in moral fibre and age-appropriate language, it is surprisingly entertaining. Because of the way in which characters and monsters are named it comes across as very 7-9 year old though so it’s going to be hard to get kids who might appreciate it to look past the silliness of that.

In summary, the book is much better than its cover and its title. I had a fair amount of fun reading it though I did start to get the creeping feeling that this story wasn’t all that original. At its heart, it’s just The Never-ending Story in a different venue but it’s a fairly original venue and the characters are entertaining and fresh at least.

Highly recommended!

A book that begins with 10-year-old Freddy moving to the country. This sets a much larger and adventurous journey in motion, one which involves crazy real estate agents, creepy neighbors, ghosts and a load of other fantastic creatures.

I see another reviewer has commented upon the use of profanity, but there’s nothing more here than in other books for older children. Nothing offensive or off-putting. In fact, it’s just hilarious that the scoundrels sometimes get so mad that they use some mild swear words, a bit like the villains in the movie ”Home Alone”.

This really is a 'page- turner' for youth and older children. Free, imaginative and without fear, we follow Freddy across physical, impossible and invisible borders. Crazy humor and some very lovable characters make the whole thing constantly entertaining, even when it's on its most serious. Highly recommended!

A fun, exciting book recommended to those who are young - or young at heart - and who enjoy a tale about the fantastic.

Thought provoking story with vivid characters and enivronment by first time author

Grayson Springs melds the worlds of historic parts of Grayson Kentucky with a present day storyline. The author successfully uses the past of the setting to help explain the troubles of a young girl struggling to let go of her own present day demons. The colorful characters and locations are ones that Elmore Leonard would approve of while taking the focus in a different direction that reflects some of the current issues in today's society. I enjoyed reading the novel and highly recommend it.

In this novel, Gambrell explores a young woman's confusion over her self-identity and how an experience working at an inn in rural Kentucky helped her discover more about herself.

Brooke is a troubled teen, and she is headed down a path that is not ideal. Her concerned father finds Grayson Springs as an alternative to juvenile detention and signs Brooke up. From there, Brooke is on a whirlwind of learning about rural life, 1800s technology, and her own past.

Interwoven throughout the novel is a second storyline of another young woman who worked at the inn--and who is mysteriously connected to Brooke.

I would particularly recommend this book for those who are interested in history or genealogy. It is a novel that is driven by character development and the (sometimes unlikely) relationships between characters. The reader finds him- or herself rooting for Brooke as she sorts her way through Grayson Springs life and layers of history.

Take me home, country roads!

Grayson Springs is a story of failure, forgiveness, and redemption which opens with two obnoxious, spoiled, and profane teenaged girls being put into the care of “Colonel Ron”, a firm but kind-hearted pseudo parole office. This is their last chance to turn their lives around, and they are fighting the process like 2 wet cats in a washtub. Their culture shock is palpable as they are flown to a remote location called “Grayson Springs” in rural Kentucky where they are expected to work (!!!) and behave with respect and proper decorum or experience dire circumstances at the end of their tenure. The beginning of the story can be off-putting with the girls expressing the emotions and language common to some of today’s spoiled and misguided teens. Shortly, however, the reader is drawn into Colonel Ron’s calculated plan for reforming the girls. I found myself wanting to quickly get back to the reading each time I put the book down to see what antics the girls would try and how Colonel Ron would thwart them in their schemes. Readers who have lived in a rural environment with loving family members close by or who have grown up in a kinder, gentler time will be soothed by the slower pace of life at Grayson Springs. One can almost hear the crickets and bullfrogs in the blessed quiet there which is, of course, anathema for the girls. The book could be a great read for youth groups or teen book study groups, although adults will enjoy the story as well. Many lessons could be discussed and learned about changing oneself for the better with real effort and the guidance of a wise adult. The author’s experience in working with young people and his passion for helping them is evident throughout the story. I highly recommend the book. Enjoy!

A really good book of memories

I was led to believe there would be a blurb about a friend of mine who had played for MSU a few years earlier when they won the Big Ten Championship. His name was only mentioned once. So I was disappointed. A few weeks later I was sent the full complete version to my surprise. Inside was a 4-page spread about my friend with a couple of photos I did not have. I am elated now so I came back to change my review. This is a really complete salute to the championship team and its coach, but a good walk down memory lane with some included photos and history of the town of Monroe. I found myself wanting to go visit there some time. Great effort.

Excellent way to stay fit in the convenience of your own home

As a keen cyclist, I was very interested to read this book. At times,due to prevailing weather conditions, it is not very practical to go out on my bike. I use the stationary bicycle but without any particular training.In this book, Chris explains why cycling is better than running and also explains what high intensity training is. I like the weekly training schedule that is well covered.One of the benefits of this type of training is weight loss,which appeals to many of us.

Because of the intensity of this training , which I haven't experienced before, the section on diet, supplements and vitamins is essential.

If you are looking to get fit without incurring gym membership costs, this is a good book to read.

Cycling is much better than running!

This is the perfect guide book to have proper Cycling HIIT Training. I've been cycling for almost 2 months and 5 times a week, this is my alternative on an exercise because it was much enjoyable rather going to a gym and exercise. This book got my attention and interest to read it.
I'm glad that i read this book because I found out that cycling is much better rather than running and it has more benefits in our health. Also, its build our muscle faster, improves our metabolism and lose weight faster. Reading this book, you will be more knowledgeable in cycling even you are beginners. The steps and strategies from this book is not just simple cycling, it is a HIIT Cycling training that has a great benefits if you apply all those steps. This book also includes some information about the proper diet,supplements,vitamins for HIIT training and the risk you will encounter in HIIT bike training that is important for a beginner to know.
I highly recommend this book to everyone who are interesting to learn more about HIIT Cycling Training!

it's about stationary bikes

This is not about cycling for those who love it. Doing training as he suggests is great for foul weather, but I think this is an incomplete book and I cannot see the science. He makes statements but there is little discussion about a rounded approach. I have little confidence in the book. It's dramatic and critical of other sports and little or no understanding of the realities of sustaining training. I felt a lack of substance. Yes it's one approach but how does it fit into life. How does it fit for a real cyclist looking at improving. Where in a regime does it fit? What other interval regimes are there. Can it be part of an endurance ride? I cannot appreciate a book with jargonistic statements about its greatness as a method without an evaluation of the evidence and the context. Amongst books on exercise its full of claims but so weak on a comprehensive concept and lack of substance.
