I bought this book for my wife and if helped her to gain confidence and made her believe that with the right technique and action she can protect herself against any potential attack. I think that every woman should learn how to defend herself, even if she won't (hopefully!) be forced to use those skills ever in her life!

Exciting read!

Exciting read! I’ve always been interested in self-defence, it seems like an important skill to have. This book goes over many different skills involved in fighting back and even disarming someone. I found the chapter of defending yourself against someone with a weapon very exciting and had a lot of fun trying the moves.

In a segment about disarming someone with a rifle it says to use one hand to point the gun away from you and the other to disarm the attacker. This book is a decent summary of Krav Maga, but if you're looking to actually learn how to do things I would suggest a different primer.

Yes it's specialist - but flying touch and goes in a simulator are pretty specialist! Very simple and easy to understand language, the author does not try to show off his knowledge he imparts it instead. Very helpfully illustrated throughout. It is rare to find something so thorough, thorough and thorough. Definite aid to get you out of a flap (bad flying pun intended). Great for flying at home or in an authentic flight deck simulator. The print job is great too, good solid production all round. It won't get dog eared in a hurry. Nice work.

My Favorite Soccer Book for Coaching

I currently have 11 books in my collection on coaching soccer and this is my favorite one! I'm a life-long journeyman player, but as a first time U10 coach I have learned a tremendous amount from this book. My kids love all of the games and it keeps my practices flowing and well-organized. The kids get a lot of conditioning during the games/drills so I don't bother with any extra-running - we just use one or two of the warmup games to get going and things go well from there. The kids love the competitive nature of the games and they almost always have a ball at their feet or they are involved in play so these games maximize touches and game-like situations - very little standing around waiting for a turn like we had when I was a kid.

The regressions are great for U10 as I can make the games easier to begin with and then add the recommended progressions to make the games more challenging as the kids begin to find success. The self-guided questions are fantastic as they help the kids develop a self-reliant way of thinking about soccer. I wish I had been exposed to something like this when I was a child - I know I would have been a much better player.

Lastly, I had a question about one of the games so I tried contacting Dr. James Jordan via LinkedIn. He actually wrote me back the same day with a very detailed and thoughtful explanation that totally cleared up the drill for me. I wasn't expecting that, but it was a great bonus! I'm looking forward to his book on Defense now.

As of 2015, she is the last American woman to have won the Boston Marathon for the past thirty years. She is a member of the University of Michigan Track and Field and Road Runners of America Halls of Fame. Her marathon times were among the top ten in the US in 1984 and 1987-1994. As of 2008, she was listed four times in the top 100 all-time US women's marathon performances, with a best time of 2:28:15. Humble, down to Earth, living the American dream.

Humble, down to Earth, living the American dream. Short book with the details that I wanted to know while leaving out private aspects of her life. Hard working and caring immigrant father, mother and daughter attain success. Very different from "Dandelion Growing Wild: A triumphant journey over astounding odds by American marathon champion Kim Jones" that I was unfortunate enough to read.
