I can highly recommend this enjoyable book to all

Being well acquainted with the author of this book and also a turkey hunter of long experience myself, I know that any person with similar interests will find this book both informative and entertaining. Jon points out that hunters of our generation had to relearn the lessons of turkey hunting all over again, because the previous turkey hunters had long passed away by the time that what should be our national bird recovered it's numbers. Jon has obviously learned these lessons well. I am sure that the efforts of the various game departments to release wild-caught birds into new territories was in some ways quite surprising even to them, in view of it's huge success: bringing an American icon back from the brink, and certainly one of the major wildlife management triumphs of our time. I can highly recommend this enjoyable book to all.

Great collection of turkey hunting experiences!

Thoroughly enjoyed the author's style of writing and his conveyance of a lifetime of turkey hunting experiences. The style of writing allowed for lessons to come out in each story, yet it was not a "how-to" type book. A very enjoyable read. Highly recommend picking up a copy!

A wonderful book from the My Story series.

This book is one in the My Story series. The books in this series are fictional diaries of young girls living during different periods of British, Scottish, and Irish history.

Phyllis McCormack, called Phylly, is a fourteen-year-old girl living in Ireland in 1845. Her family is better off than most poor Irish farm families. Phylly even has a job as a maid at the landlord's estate. But when a terrible disease attacks the potato crop, Phylly's family suffers as much as everyone else. Phylly fights to keep her spirits up through her family's struggle for survival and even experiences the wonder of first love, recording everything that happens in her diary.

I highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy historical diaries. If you love Dear America, you are sure to love the My Story series. The setting is fascinating, the diary format appealing, and Phylly's character is very likeable.

Great book for a reluctant reader and her mother!

I bought this book for my 10 year old daughter, a reluctant reader, who had to read historical fiction for a school assignment. For the most part, we read it out loud to each other. My daughter loved the story. She was shocked to learn of the suffering and cruelty during the potato famine. The author really brought the history alive. My daughter now wants to read more books in the My Story series. I highly recommend this book for all children who can handle suffering and pain in books. (By the way, I LOVED the book, too!)

This is such a heartwarming story of Phyllis and her family's struggle against hunger. It was a very enlightening experience for me, because I wasn't aware of the potato disease that hit Ireland back in 1845, so to read a firsthand account of the suffering this caused many families was distressing and heart-wrenching.

Phyllis is such a strong girl, and her journey was one of strength and resilience. Her loyalty and her love for her family is unequivocal. She will go above and beyond to make sure they survive. As she watches other families starve and leave their homes and die, she goes out and looks for work as a maid servant to help her parents put food on the table. However, as her rebellious, revolutionary brother leaves them to fight for Ireland's rights and freedom, her family is questioned and watched for any signs of betrayal.

Phyllis has the biggest heart out there, her love for her dog, and her refusal to let the dog starve brought tears to my eyes. She brings out the best in people because of her big heart, and this includes a young gentleman, who Phyllis has been secretly infatuated with. Their seemingly impossible love story was such a sweet contrast to the suffering taking place around her. And yet when her mother's health deteriorates, she makes the decision to go looking for her brother, whom her mother keeps asking about and is separated from her family, her love, and her work.

However, she returns defeated after a long search, and finds that her family was forced to leave, but more than that...her mother has passed away. Thus begins a different journey, one in which she goes looking for her family. Heartbreak after heartbreak, and yet Phyllis never gives up.

Beautifully tragic story.

Interesting, but after a while it just drags

Not the author's fault: after Tampa Bay's first few attempts to get a Major League Baseball team, I can't imagine how you can possibly keep the narrative interesting.

Spoiler: they finally got a team. And because of inadequate local support, the team might leave in 2020. So it goes.

Ollie allows an almost unknown young woman to drive his beloved Porsche GT3 in which she is clocked at over 270ks, crashes the car and then does a runner leaving Ollie, an incredibly wealthy young man, to totally face the music on his own. All the money in the world though can’t stop the subsequent events and Ollie is deported and his car confiscated and he finds himself in the exotic locations of Las Vegas, California and Detroit where he becomes immersed in the illegal street racing culture.

Readers who have enjoyed David Jubermann’s earlier books will find the atmosphere of speed, ambition and money (and what it can buy) are all addictive and his old (and new) fans will find a compelling, unputdownable read.

If you are going to write a novel the best piece of advice you can get is to write what you know about. David Jubermann knows about cars and driving fast and he knows about the culture that surrounds speed.

His latest novel is a long way from the boy racers of Christchurch and the drift racers of previous novels Shiftlight and Drift Race although some of the characters appear in this novel. It is nice to know they did alright.

Ollie is wealthy, has just bought a house and drives a Porsche GT3. He allows a fast young woman to drive it in a gross error of judgement. She speeds at 275Ks, is clocked, crashes the car, and does a runner, leaving Ollie to face the music. He is busted, deported and his car is confiscated perhaps by crusher Collins.

These events lead him to Hawaii, then to Las Vegas, California and Detroit, into car racing where the stakes are astronomical. Losing is inconceivable and will mean the loss of your car and even more. This is the world of the super rich and their wondrous toys and extravagant lifestyles and whats more it makes for a very appealing and readible book.

Well written and structured and will appeal to all those petrol heads of high school age who love cars and speed.

With all the favourite characters from his previous books; Shiftlight and Drift Race, ‘Hypercar’ continues their journey with more cars, speed, action, and trouble!
I really enjoyed this action-packed book. It had me thinking all the time, as there were twists and turns and underlying mysteries. I found myself googling images of the car models described so that I could ‘see’ them racing ……..
Good looking young people, money, parties and fast cars, an absorbing combination to read about . However, no sex, drugs, or abuse of alcohol, there is consideration for other road users, neighbours, each other, the law, and concern about road worthiness. It’s all ‘good stuff’; therefore a suitable, enjoyable read for anyone aged 14 and over.

This book contains some of the best 19th, 20th and 21st century photographs of sailing yachts.
The book is fairly large and the photographs are full page for maximum detail.
The picture annotations are not the book's strong points. The text placing old vessels contains a significant number of errors and the text placing new vessels read like advertisements.

Worth the money
By home handy man
This is good for weekend do it yourselfers. It shows how to take panels apart (where the clips are) and general auto theory and what most of the engine controls look like. I didn't see anything about tire pressure monitoring, and they don't try to point you to defective parts other than giving the codes for a code reader. They try to cover the 4 different engines that came with them-so there isn't much detail on each one. It's worth the $$ but has the common shortfalls.

A great resource, but...

This is a great manual for people who have the 3.5L and 3.6L V6 engines with these cars, but is not comprehensive. This manual covers too many cars to be specific to certain models. It covers two generations and three (four technically) different cars, each with two to three different engine and transmission configurations. I would have liked it more if there were two separate manuals; one for the 2007-2010 Chrysler Sebring and 2008-2010 Dodge Avenger, and another for the 2011-2014 Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger respectively.

One thing to note is that for some of the instructions and illustrations/pictures for the 3.5L, while are helpful, are taken from the RWD variant (Rotated 90 degrees) and are thus not applicable to the transverse mounted 3.5L in the FWD Avenger and Sebring. Such examples are timing cover removal and anything to do with the front of the engine.

The entire manual seems to be a copy and paste hodge-podge from other repair manuals that use the same motors or transmission.

All this being said, it is extremely helpful, and better than nothing for sure, and I am thankful to Haynes for making it in the first place. I just wish it was less clunky.

A roller coaster bicycle ride...what an adventure!

Pierre-Yves was driven by desire, self motivated, and focused on a dream. Few people ever have the inspiration and even fewer have the burning desire to tackle and follow through on such an epic endeavor. I loved this book for the emotional roller coaster ride laced with philosophical words of wit and the observant people profiles…a book hard to put down.

The harried scenarios that I had imagined simply don’t play out. On the contrary, people smile at us and even wave, tentatively. My fears dissipate little by little. Our fears, ultimately, are conjured up by what we don’t know. When you’re finally confronted with the unknown, you start to get a grip on it and learn to see things for what they really are. I can truly expand my limits and horizons by seeing how people actually live and by understanding their culture. This generous family has welcomed me as one of their own—isn’t that the best proof that you can love your fellow man unconditionally, whatever god we believe in?
Finding a happy life
Those of us living in rich countries look for a happy life, while those in poor countries are just happy to be alive. Isn’t awareness of the gift of life enough reason to find happiness? At our frenetic pace of life, I wonder if we haven’t bypassed happiness and raced so far ahead of it that we’ll never find it again.

About the Author
“Oh those gymnastics judges don’t know what they are doing! I was robbed.” Sound familiar? Well, that’s what I thought too as an athlete in the mid-1970s. So I figured I’d fix the injustice by becoming a gymnastics judge who was fair, kind and knew what she was doing. Almost four decades later, I’m still working on being that gymnastics judge, but I’ve sure enjoyed the journey. I’ve judged high school state meets, USA Gymnastics state, regional and national meets, NCAA conference, regional and national meets and I WORKED ON THE FLOOR OF THE OLYMPICS in 1996. Yup, the Olympics. Who would guess that a mediocre gymnast from Burnsville, Minnesota could ever get that far? So besides judging gymnastics—which is a sideline avocation—I work as a senior manager for the federal government. I also like reading and doing short course triathlons from time to time.
